Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to announce a new Special Issue of the journal Sustainability titled “Renewable Energy and Energy Sustainability for a Clean Environment: Integrating across Industries”.
In the past few decades, numerous OECD countries have experienced a significant increase in energy demand. In the meantime, greenhouse gas emissions are rising, inducing a rise in meteorological catastrophic disaster incidents in different parts of the world. Going back to renewable energy to mitigate climate change is an optimal solution that requires to be sustainable so as to satisfy the energy demand of the next generations. In this context, the renewable energy industry is instrumental for the world in its sustainability transition into a low-carbon or green economy to reduce the ongoing reliance on fossil fuels by various industrial sectors, including transport, building, manufacturing, and IT infrastructures. Energy security and environmental protection issues are expected to drive the demand for renewable energy in the future. The renewable energy industry is a strategic emerging industry that upholds sustainable economic development with growth potential. In the future, it will stimulate the world economy into its phase of an economic growth cycle. The advancement of renewable energy technologies can accelerate the development of technological innovation and modern industrialization 4.0 with a sustainability edge through integration with pertinent industries. The development of renewable energy and energy sustainability requires continuous innovation, which will further promote technological progress, contributing to the development of ecosystems for the industries under sustainability transformation.
This Special Issue aims to present cutting-edge research findings and technological innovations in dealing with the challenges and opportunities of advancing renewable energies and energy sustainability through integrating applications across industries. Original research articles and review papers are welcome for the following areas and related topics relating to innovative applications of renewable and sustainable energies.
