Introduction of Prof. Kurt Ackermann

Kurt Ackermann is an associate professor in the English department of HokuseiGakuen Junior College in Sapporo, Hokkaido. His background in environmental management and geography, though he has been teaching English in Japan for many years. Currently, he primarily teaches extensive reading and geography (in English) to second-year students. His research interests include extensive reading, learning disorders, and ecotourism, amongst others. His interests include tourism and environmental issues.

Introduction of Prof. Anthony Johnson

After my apprenticeship with the Royal Navy as a Precision Tool Maker I gained a first class honours degree in engineering design and gained a position of Assistant Chief Designer with construction plant manufacturer. My duties included hands-on engineering design and management of a busy design office.
As a senior lecturer at the University of Huddersfield from 1986 to 2014 I gained my Ph.D. in Sustainable Engineering. In 2014 I took up a post of Professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, South Korea, continuing my research in Sustainable Engineering and in particular Kinetic Energy Storage Systems.
As an academic I have taught diverse engineering subjects from Dynamics and Mechanics to Engineering Design and from Alternative Energy Systems to CAD and more recently Sustainable Engineering. I have held; academic management positions, external examiner positions both in the UK and overseas, Educational consultancy posts, held the post of CEO of several limited companies and successfully completed over 400 and engineering consultancy projects.
I have published numerous journal and conference papers and have been the major author in the publication of three books, “Foundations of Engineering”, “Sustainability and Its Incorporation into the Engineering Design Process” and “Sustainability in Engineering Design”.
